You think that counting
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and so on
is the only and normal way to do it?
Well, mathematicians (others, too – developers for example) can have different thoughts.
You know about 10 digits.
Computers know about 2: 0, 1. So, a computer counts up to 12 in this way:
0, 1, 10, 11, 100, 101, 110, 111, 1000, 1001, 1010, 1011, 1100 and so on
Well, today I found a site which shows that our 10-digit world might not be the best. It has examples, and explanations that show that octal system is better (8 digits).
